Summer is right around the corner. You decide to take the pool cover off to do a quick pool cleaning, but notice that there are a ton of leaves in your pool.

What do you do next so that you can use your pool sooner versus later? You want to take advantage of the few months you can use your pool before it’s too cold again!

Well, you’ve come to the right place. Keep reading for some pool cleaning tips!

Leaf Rake

One thing you can do on your own to get all of the leaves out of your swimming pool is to use a leaf rake. This is much like a skimmer but has a deeper bag in the back that will hold the leaves that you “rake” up.

You can also use the leaf rake on the bottom of the pool for leaves that are on the bottom. Just make sure to extend it and then pull it toward you to catch all of the leaves.

Leaf Eater

If you are not looking to do it on your own, getting a leaf eater is an easier option.

The leaf eater operates off of a suction that will get the leaves off of the bottom of the pool for you. The leaf eater can also hold a ton of debris before it needs dumping, so it should be able to clean your house pool before needing a dump!

Brush the Pool

If you’ve tried the leaf rake and a leaf eater and still have some leaves and other debris floating around the pool, you may need to use the pool brush. This way, you can make sure you get anything off the walls if it is stuck.

This will also get off any grime that has been building up for the last few months that the pool cover has been on (or just in general).

Once you use the brush, you can try to use the leaf rake and leaf eater again to get the remaining debris out of the pool.

Hire a Pool Cleaning Service

If all of this seems too difficult or time-consuming to do, you can always hire a pool cleaning service. They’ll be able to do the dirty work for you so that you do not have to!

They can even test your water chemical levels and make sure everything else is up to code and good for your pool.
